The Los Angeles Angels were heavy sellers ahead of the 2026 MLB trade deadline.

One player that drew interest from around the league that was ultimately not traded was outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler.

Soler will now have his choice of where he wants to spend the remainder of the season.

According to MLB insider Mike Rodriguez, the Angels have designated Soler for assignment after being unable to find a trade partner.

Soler has struggled in a big way this season, slashing .203/.291/.373 with just 12 home runs in 316 at-bats. Additionally, Soler's 32.7% strikeout rate ranks in the bottom 3% of the league.

Where are some potential landing spots?

Reports of interest surrounding Soler circulated throughout the day on Monday, showing that there is a clear sign of interest from at least a couple teams.

The Philadelphia Phillies have long needed a right-handed outfield bat, so that makes the most sense as the top landing spot for Soler. The Detroit Tigers have gotten the least production of any team from its outfielders this season, making them a possible destination as well.

It's unlikely that Soler will get a starting role on any playoff contending team, but an opportunity to be a late-game situational player could be beneficial for the remainder of the season.
