UFC star Arman Tsarukyan has explained why he wants to finish Mauricio Ruffy quickly when they meet at UFC 331.

At UFC 331, in the co-main event, Arman Tsarukyan has a chance to really cement his position as the number one contender in the lightweight division. He will go head to head with in-form Mauricio Ruffy in what promises to be a really intriguing encounter.

Tsarukyan has been denied his chance at the gold time and time again, and Dana White has made no secret of his frustrations with Arman. Still, if he can get through Ruffy and do so convincingly, the promotion will have no choice but to give him a crack at the title.

In a recent interview, however, Tsarukyan said he has a different reason for wanting to finish the fight quickly.

“I don’t need 25 minutes,” Tsarukyan said. “I’m going there (to) make (the) job easy and quick.

“So, because my dad back at home… I don’t want him to be nervous, you know, (by the fight being) so long.

“I want to make it as soon as possible and quick,” he added.

Arman certainly has the ability to finish fights, but in equal measure, doing so against someone like Ruffy is going to be a lot easier said than done. We are talking about one of the most dynamic strikers in the entire lightweight division who, in his own right, will believe he is on the verge of earning a championship opportunity.

Regardless of who you favor to pick up the win, it feels like we are gearing up for a real all-action affair in Los Angeles.
