Heading into the World Cup there was a concern that it may get in the way of transfer business but for Arsenal, it has so far only reaffirmed their feelings towards one player; Ayyoub Bouaddi.
The Gunners reportedly lodged a bid for the player a couple of weeks ago but interest is now set to grow in this Moroccan superstar who has already taken proceedings in North America by storm.
Bouaddi is one of a number of World Cup players the Gunners are tracking, including England's Morgan Rogers and Argentina's Nico Paz.
Rogers appears to be the dream target but they will not stop at him in their bid to improve their title winning side. So, what's the latest from the Emirates?
Arsenal close in on signing teenage talent
Just hours after Bouaddi had dazzled for Morocco against Brazil, reports emerged suggesting Arsenal had been in talks to sign the player for several months now.
Andrea Berta has been on the file for a while and now discussions are ongoing to bring the Lille star to English football. The midfielder was thought to be worth around £60m before the World Cup got underway but that is now likely to soar if he continues to impress for the Atlas Lions.
Rogers aside, it does look as though Berta and Co are chasing a number of talented teenagers. Como's Paz is another top drawer youngster who could be on his way to Arsenal but Real Madrid are in the picture so don't expect that one to be easy.
The name of Jeremy Monga continues to do the rounds too. Recent reports have outlined that the north Londoners have already agreed personal terms with the player and that he is closing in on a move.
Monga was relegated with Leicester from the Championship last season and plenty of teams have seen this as an opportunity to pounce on the 16-year-old. Plenty of sides have shown interest but it is Arsenal who are set to win the race.
That's according to talkSPORT's Alex Crook. Speaking in a YouTube video at the weekend, he said: "He will leave Leicester. I was told a few weeks ago that up to ten clubs from the Premier League and abroad are showing an interest. It looks like Arsenal will win this particular race. They are very close now to agreeing a deal with Leicester for a fee that will be around the £10m mark."
Why Monga has even more potential than Bouaddi
The performance of Bouaddi against the Brazilian's on Friday night was a remarkable one. Aged just 18, he took to the field and looked like the best player on the park.
It may well have been Vinicius Junior who won the game's official Player of the Match award but really, it was the teenager who deserved it for a barnstorming performance.
He completed 91% of his passes, registered three dribbles and amassed five defensive contributions. At the base of Morocco's midfield, he looked worth every bit of that previous £60m asking price.

Evidently one of the best young players in world football right now, Arsenal could actually sign a talent with even more potential in the shape of Monga.
Sure, he may not be at the World Cup just yet but, aged 16, it would not be a surprise if that in four years time he was in the England squad.
A winger by trade, Monga made his Premier League debut aged 15. Only two players have made their Premier League bows at a younger age; Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman. He's a special talent and for context, Bouaddi wasn't making his first senior appearance for Lille until he was 16.
They are evidently both generational talents but considering Monga is a forward player, you have to say he's a bit more exciting. Everybody loves signing a new attacking player, don't they?
The English teenager only scored once and assisted two goals for the Foxes last term but the fact he has played 37 games at senior level for his age is pretty jaw-dropping.
Like Bouaddi, Monga has this fearlessness about him. He doesn't care who he's playing with or against. He's always brave, he's always trying to making things happen and his first thought, much like the Moroccan, is how to get the ball forward.
Celebrated not only as "one of England's biggest talents" but also as "England's Ousmane Dembele" by Como scout Ben Mattinson, this is a player who has been catching the attention for a number of years now.
In the words of Leicester reporter Josh Holland, "Monga plays football like he is playing in the street" and "he is a remarkable ball-carrier."
Just watching clips of the young winger, you get a Jeremy Doku-like vibe from him. His close touch control is joyous, the way he manipulates the ball past players is incredible.
The young English talent is two years Bouaddi's junior but in a couple of years time, expect him to be on par or to have potentially even surpassed the Moroccan's talent. He's well on his way to doing just that.
