The Cavs would offer Watson a four-year deal and work out a sign-and-trade with the Nuggets.
Schroder has two years remaining on his deal for $14.8 million next season and $15.8 million for 2027-28.
Strus is on an expiring deal at $16.7 million next season.
The Clippers and Bucks also remain candidates to add Watson.
Watson is reportedly looking for a deal at over $25 million per season.
