Celtic could be set for a busy final few days of the transfer window, with Martin O’Neill looking to add to the four signings made so far this summer.

The Hoops have so far completed Parkhead deals for Kasper Hogh, Camilo Duran, Haissem Hassan and Mika Baur. Those transfers have cost more than £26m, with Hogh a club-record fee of £11m plus add-ons, but there have also been a number of notable departures, including Arne Engels and Daizen Maeda.

O’Neill has made no secret of the fact that he wants further reinforcements before the deadline. Earlier this month, the Celtic boss said there was “no question” more players would arrive, although he admitted that the Scottish champions were looking for “quality rather than quantity”.

Midfield and left-back is an area the Hoops would like to strengthen before the deadline, and when it comes to the former of the two positions, PSV Eindhoven youngster Joel Van Den Berg looks set to join.

Celtic have agreed a £3.4m deal with the Dutch side for the Netherlands U19 international, who is viewed as a replacement for Arne Engels following his exit to West Ham.

However, another player now emerging on Celtic’s radar could potentially offer solutions in both midfield and left-back.

Celtic interested in £6m Justin Devenny

According to The Herald’s reliable reporter Stephen McGowan, Celtic are now taking a late interest in Crystal Palace’s Justin Devenny.

The 22-year-old is reportedly valued at around £6m, with those in Glasgow joining a group of clubs considering a move for the Northern Ireland international.

Middlesbrough, Leicester City, Southampton, Preston North End and Serie A side Cagliari have all been credited with interest in the versatile ace, who appears to appeal to O’Neill.

Naturally a midfielder, Devenny is capable of playing centrally or in a more attacking role, while Northern Ireland have also deployed him as a left wing-back more recently.

That could make him a valuable squad option at Parkhead, with Celtic looking for more midfield depth and cover for Kieran Tierney at left-back.

Despite still being only 22, Devenny has already experienced some significant moments at senior level with Crystal Palace, with one of the biggest being at Wembley in the 2025 Community Shield against Liverpool, scoring the winning penalty in the shootout.

He has also been hailed as “excellent” on the international stage for Northern Ireland, and as can be seen, his versatility all over the pitch could be valuable at Celtic Park across a long domestic and European campaign.

Born in Irvine, Devenny came through Kilmarnock’s academy before moving to Airdrieonians and then to Crystal Palace, and by the looks of things, a return back to Scotland with a switch to Celtic could well be on the cards, should the Hoops firm up their interest with a formal offer.
