Ciryl Gane denied Alex Pereira a history-making moment at UFC Freedom 250, emphatically defeating the Brazilian to claim interim gold once again.
Following a solid opening round from Gane, ‘Bon Gamin’ delivered a spectacular finish in the second stanza after catching Pereira with a right jab that sent the Brazilian to the mat. Gane looked to finish things on the canvas, but Pereira refused to go down without a fight.

Climbing back to his feet, Pereira desperately tried to weather the storm, but refused to let up. Pereira was given ample time to turn the tide, but a crushing right hand from Gane put Pereira against the fence and prompted referee Herb Dean to step in and stop the onslaught.

Official Result: Ciryl Gane def. Alex Pereira via TKO (strikes) at 1:27 of Round 2 to capture the interim UFC heavyweight world championship.
Gane is now a two-time interim heavyweight titleholder and has set the stage for a unification clash with reigning champion Tom Aspinall.
