Chicago Cubs' Alex Bregman has done a good job of turning around his season with his miraculous second-half surge, helping to erase his slow start and salvage his first season in a Cubs uniform. 

After signing a substantial five-year, $175 million contract in free agency, Bregman's performance was lackluster in the first half of the season. But he's now living up to his contract 

Through July 10, Bregman batted just .235 with seven home runs. But he then flipped the script by homering back-to-back games (July 11-12) against the Cincinnati Reds. Since July 11, he's made a massive comeback, hitting over .310 with 18 home runs. 

In the Cubs' 12-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates, he helped the team break their four-game losing streak by recording three hits, two runs, two RBI and his 25th home run of the season. 

Bregman's success in the second half has also come from making a significant swing adjustment in late July. By closing his stance and moving deep into the batter's box, being one of the biggest comeback success stories this season. His 84 RBI rank second among all third basemen in MLB, and his .800 OPS, with a 33.3 % squared-up rate, have also added to his resurgence.

Reaching the 25 HR mark for the fifth time in his career is monumental for the three-time All-Star, two-time World Series Champion and Gold Glove winner. His defense has also been elite as he ranks first among all third basemen with a 14 Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) this season and owns an 8 Outs Above Average (OAA) that sits in the 94th percentile. 

His sluggish start has trended upward, following a massive slump in June, where he was batting a measly .200 with 12 RBI, two home runs, and a poor .300 slugging percentage. 

Since Aug. 1, he's dominated, going 43/146 (.295) with 13 home runs, eight doubles, a 12.7 K %, a 10.2 % BB a .420 wOBA and a 180 wRC+. His hot streak has helped the Cubs hold a three-game lead for the second NL wild-card spot. 

Bregman has also recorded four multi-homer games with the Cubs this season, and his success this season was also highlighted by his career-best 7 RBI against the Washington Nationals on Aug. 12. Bregman went 3-for-3 with two walks, three home runs, and seven RBI in his historic performance
