Daniel Dubois has offered a reluctant take on Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua, hoping to face the winner in a unification match next year.

It was announced yesterday that the two British heavyweights will finally collide on December 11, headlining a Netflix and Ring event at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

Not only that, but The Ring’s Mike Coppinger has reported that both combatants are to lock horns for the WBA ‘super’ title, presenting them with the chance to become a three-time world champion.

This is in spite of the general belief that Murat Gassiev, who held the WBA ‘regular’ title, became the sanctioning body’s full champion after Oleksandr Usyk relinquished his three belts in June.

Rather, it would appear that, despite their dwindling capabilities, Fury and ‘AJ’ will square off for the vacant strap after completing their respective warm-up fights in July.

Back then, Fury stopped a 46-year-old Mariusz Wach in seven rounds, while Joshua suffered two knockdowns before halting Kristian Prenga in the second frame.

But while, based on those two performances, many would consider ‘The Gypsy King’ to be a sizable favourite, WBO champion Dubois has told DAZN that, while hoping for a double knockout, he cannot foresee a clear victory for either man.

“I’m sick of hearing about it. Let’s see them in the ring. Let them knock each other out – they’re getting paid enough for that.”

In that same breath, Dubois admitted he would “definitely” like to face the winner but, first, he must defend his world title in a rematch with Fabio Wardley on October 17.

Historically, Dubois has given Fury ‘the edge’ in the fight, and that prediction matches the opening odds for the fight.
