Tottenham's pursuit of Man City winger Savinho remains one of the most intriguing transfer stories of the summer as Roberto De Zerbi continues reshaping the squad ahead of his first full season in charge.

Spurs-Savinho

Savinho is highly regarded and is viewed as a player capable of bringing pace, flair and unpredictability to Tottenham's attack.

Reports have suggested negotiations are advancing as Spurs look to capitalise on uncertainty surrounding the winger's long-term future at the Etihad Stadium.

De Zerbi has made no secret of his desire to inject more creativity into the squad, and Savinho's ability to beat defenders and create chances would certainly help achieve that.

The links also underline the growing relationship between Tottenham and City in this window.

Savinho is not the only City player being discussed internally at Spurs, with several reports suggesting the club are monitoring other opportunities that could emerge.

Tottenham have already confirmed deals for Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi this summer, while they remain in talks for Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke as De Zerbi continues a significant rebuild.

Supporters have largely welcomed the club's aggressive approach in the market.

Spurs-Liverpool-Andy-Robertson

After a difficult campaign, there is a clear determination from Tottenham's hierarchy to provide De Zerbi with the players needed to implement his vision.

Savinho would certainly fit that profile, but another City player is attracting serious attention.

De Zerbi personally keen to sign Man City's James Trafford for Tottenham

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham are positioning themselves to move for goalkeeper James Trafford if Guglielmo Vicario leaves the club this summer.

The report claims De Zerbi personally wants the England international and believes he would be an 'ideal' fit for the way he wants Spurs to play.

That assessment is hardly surprising.

Throughout his managerial career, De Zerbi has placed enormous importance on goalkeepers who are comfortable in possession.

His teams build attacks from deep and rely heavily on the goalkeeper's ability to receive the ball under pressure and play accurate passes into midfield.

Trafford is widely regarded as one of the best young ball-playing English goalkeepers, making him a natural candidate.

The potential move is also linked to uncertainty surrounding Vicario.

Reports suggest the Italian goalkeeper could leave north London before the transfer window closes, following links to Inter Milan and Juventus, creating a vacancy between the posts.

Should that happen, Trafford is believed to be one of Tottenham's leading targets.

The 23-year-old is also eager to secure regular first-team football after finding opportunities limited at City.

Manchester City's James Trafford looks dejected after the match

For Tottenham, the appeal is obvious.

Trafford is young, highly-rated and already possesses valuable experience at senior level. Just as importantly, he appears tailor-made for the possession-heavy style De Zerbi wants to establish.

With Savinho talks continuing and Trafford still firmly on the radar, Spurs' summer business is increasingly reflecting the new manager's football philosophy.
