Deontay Wilder got the better of Derek Chisora when he fought on British soil earlier this year, but now there is another UK heavyweight calling for his shot at ‘The Bronze Bomber’.

Wilder first fought in the UK back in 2013, when he knocked out Audley Harrison in the opening round of the co-main event of an Amir Khan-headlined bill at Sheffield Arena.

After 13 years away, the Tuscaloosa knockout artist returned to England and claimed a much-needed split-decision win over Chisora back in April.

Since then, Wilder has been heavily linked as the opponent for Oleksandr Usyk’s ‘farewell fight’ – which is anticipated to take place in March 2027 – as he seeks to spoil the Ukrainian’s final pro bout and re-announce himself as a threat to the heavyweight throne.

Yet, speaking with Sky Sports, Johnny Fisher threw his name into the hat for the opportunity to face the former WBC heavyweight world champion, promising to try to ‘take the American out’ if the fight goes ahead.

“What do we think of Deontay Wilder? Listen, they [my fans] are not keen on Deontay Wilder, but I will say that he is an absolute legend of the game. 

“He has had a fantastic trilogy with Tyson Fury. It’s an honour to be linked with someone who is that high up in the sport and it would be an honour to share the ring with him.

“But, make no bones about it. I would be going in there to take him out!”

Fisher will make his Zuffa Boxing debut on Saturday, as he headlines at the Copper Box Arena in London against Belgium’s Michael Pirotton atop Zuffa’s first event in the British capital.
