The Seattle Mariners' top left-handed pitching prospect, Kade Anderson, has been dominating with Double-A Arkansas and is ready to make his MLB debut. 

He is boasting a 10-1 record with a 1.06 ERA and 135 strikeouts, with a 0.64 WHIP across 93.1 innings pitched. He also owns a stellar 40.5 percent strikeout rate, illustrating his solid command on the mound. 

While he is ready for big-league action, the Mariners currently have an overcrowded rotation. They also want to be cautious with his pitching workload and arm, as he underwent Tommy John surgery in 2022. 

While the Mariners could have him pitch in the bullpen, their goal is to have him pitch in the rotation. But his dominance in the minors makes him a perfect candidate for a call-up, as the 22-year-old has nothing else left to prove in the minors. 

Why the Mariners should promote Kade Anderson

Anderson leads all minor league pitchers in ERA and WHIP. Following the loss of Luis Castillo, adding Anderson would bolster Seattle's rotation, considering that Bryce Miller owns a 7.18 ERA across his last four starts.

Miller's next scheduled start is on Sunday, and the Mariners would be wise to call up Anderson and have him pitch in his place while granting him a call-up that's been long overdue. 

In addition, Anderson's rookie eligibility window has already passed, which means the Mariners can call him up and it wouldn't impact his future status. Anderson has also already showcased his readiness to handle MLB hitters, as he struck out Randy Arozarena during spring training batting practice in February. 

Anderson also recorded 27 2/3 scoreless innings in Double-A in July, which accounted for four consecutive scoreless starts for the highly touted prospect. A late-season call-up should still be in the works for the youngster, who has held batters to a measly .147 batting average.
