Pedro Neto is wanted by Arsenal as well as Man City, Chelsea insider Simon Phillips has reported today.

Chelsea have got through a good amount of business already this summer, but as always as Stamford Bridge, there’s plenty more to come.

The Blues need to sell as well as buy, and while some players (Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile et al.) are clearly available, others have a less clear status.

There’s been a lot of talk about Pedro Neto moving to Man City, for example. The winger has been an important player for the Blues since arriving from Wolves, and it feels likely he’s an important part of Xabi Alonso’s plans, should he stay at Stamford Bridge – potentially as a wing back.

But with no European football to play, minutes will be limited at Chelsea, and given the number of players on their books, they will struggle to turn down good offers for players they think they can do without.

Chelsea insider Simon Phillips has today reported on his Substack that Arsenal are considering joining the chase for the Portugal international.

As you’d expect, Chelsea are “open to receiving offers” for Neto rather than having him “up for sale.”

They would need to be persuaded to sell by a strong offer – but given it’s Arsenal and Man City involved, they could well get a strong offer. Phillips points out that Neto himself could change the balance here by pushing for a move himself – something he has yet to do.

This one really feels like it could go either way at the moment.
