The Fantic XX300 is the 300cc two-stroke Yamaha doesn’t make—and you can’t buy it in the United States. Former TM importer Ralf Schmidt started with a Fantic XX250, which shares its platform with the Yamaha YZ250, and transformed it into the ultimate Vet-class race bike. The build features an Athena 300cc big-bore kit, HGS exhaust, VForce 3 reed cage, Solva suspension, MotoMaster brakes, Haan wheels and a long list of high-end European components. Ralf built the bike specifically for Glen Helen Raceway, and the results were immediately noticeable. The carbureted XX300 delivered smooth but aggressive power, crisp throttle response and enough acceleration to make it a serious holeshot machine.
