The 2026 FIM World Supercross Championship arrives in Calgary this weekend as the world’s leading supercross riders prepare to battle for championship points in the opening round of the season at McMahon Stadium. Calgary marks both the start of a new championship campaign and the first time the city has hosted World Supercross, setting the stage for a thrilling night of racing on Canadian soil. The championship’s season-opening event takes place at McMahon Stadium on Saturday, 8 August 2026.

The Canadian GP launches a six-round international season that will see riders and teams compete across North America, Europe, South America, Oceania and Africa. With every championship contender beginning the season on equal footing, Calgary represents the first opportunity to establish momentum in both the SX1 and SX2 title races.

Fans can expect a strong field across both classes, led by reigning SX1 World Champion Jason Anderson and defending SX2 World Champion Max Anstie. The pair arrive in Calgary looking to begin their title defences in style, while a host of leading contenders, such as Cooper Webb, Christian Craig and Cameron McAdoo will be aiming to make an early statement in the championship standings.

Tom Covington, Director of Racing, World Supercross said: “This season marks a significant step forward for World Supercross. Our focus remains on delivering quality events that help take this sport to new locations, and Calgary is a fitting place to start the 2026 campaign. With a strong rider line-up, world-class teams and a stadium built for big moments, we’re expecting an exciting opening round and a brilliant first World Supercross event in the city.”

Beyond the individual championships, Calgary also marks the beginning of the teams’ championship battle. With teams having strengthened their rider line-ups during the off-season, the opening round offers an early indication of which organisations are best positioned to challenge across the full campaign. Every point collected in Calgary could prove important as the championship progresses.
