Floyd Mayweather had high praise for one of boxing’s current top pound-for-pound stars.

Mayweather knows how it feels to be viewed as one of the best in the entire sport, having spent a number of years as the top dog in boxing.

He became a five division world champion from super featherweight to light middleweight, as he retired with a perfect 50-0 record after notable wins over the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De Hoya among many others.

Since hanging up the gloves in 2017, a number of boxers have tried to pick up from where Mayweather left off by dominating the sport, and one reigning world champion looks like he could well be on the path to achieve that.

The man in question is Shakur Stevenson, who at just 29-years-old has managed to become a four division world champion, having reigned from featherweight to light welterweight so far.

It’s clear that Mayweather is extremely impressed with what he has seen from his countryman to date, with a recent training clip of the pair seeing the 49-year-old describe Stevenson as a ‘magician.’

Those skills were evident in Stevenson’s last outing, when he put in a superb display to convincingly defeat Teofimo Lopez and win the WBO light welterweight title in his first contest at 140lbs.

Following that win, Stevenson has signed with Zuffa Boxing and is expected to return to action in the near future, having been linked with a number of opponents since joining forces with Dana White’s company.
