Unlike four years ago, there will be no need for final-day heroics at Leeds United, no similar scenes to those which saw a jubilant Raphinha leap into the crowd away at the Gtech.

The Whites saw their Premier League status secured with three games spare this time around, and comfortably so too, prior to putting in another typically battling performance to halt Tottenham Hotspur's end-of-season rally on Monday night.

That display was everything that we've come to expect from Daniel Farke's side, the visitors hardly giving Spurs an inch in north London, physically overwhelming Roberto De Zerbi's men all across the park.

Farke and his giants have bucked the recent trend of swift relegations for newly-promoted sides, now left with a platform to build on heading into this summer and next season.

Even with safety having been secured with room to spare, there will be no sense of complacency at Elland Road, with this squad still in need of significant reinforcement ahead of 2026/27.

Work already appears to be underway in that regard, with reports this week indicating that the Yorkshire side could look to poach Dutch striker Zian Flemming from relegated Burnley.

Leeds may also seek to capitalise on the misfortune surrounding Leicester City too, with talkSPORT's Alex Crook reporting that the Whites are among the clubs interested in 16-year-old sensation, Jeremy Monga.

As per the report, they are believed to be one of ten clubs who are circling for the teenager's signature, with suitors hoping to land the Englishman for a bargain fee, following Leicester's drop into the third tier.

According to Crook, Manchester United are said to have already held 'formal talks' with the Foxes regarding a potential deal, although Leeds, Arsenal and Newcastle United are also believed to be 'admirers'.

Why Monga could be the next Raphinha in the making at Leeds

As they showed on Monday night and recently at Old Trafford too, Leeds are no safe and steady top-flight side, not content merely to camp outside their own box and hit teams on the break.

There's a relentlessness and dynamism to their play that has made them such a difficult proposition this season, now on a run of seven top-flight games without defeat.

That being said, there is a nagging sense that Farke's side are still missing that real spark, a game-changing figure who can conjure up moments of magic in the final third.

Well, while he is still only 16, Monga could well be that player, the teenager having been a bright light in a dark period at the King Power Stadium, having first made his debut in the Premier League in 2024/25 at the age of just 15.

Now up to 37 appearances in all competitions, the in-demand winger scored and assisted three goals in 27 Championship games this season, albeit while starting only eight times, having been gradually eased into the first-team picture over the last 12 months or so.

His talent has not been seen consistently yet, but the potential is sky high, with analyst and Como scout Ben Mattinson even of the opinion that he is "England's Ousmane Dembele".

That comparison to the reigning Ballon d'Or winner stems from Monga's two-footed quality and unpredictability, having flourished both on the left and right flanks for the Foxes to date.

He's a box of tricks, it must be said, so adept at driving at players and taking the game to defenders, almost in the mould of Raphinha in that sense.

The Brazilian - a former teammate of Dembele at Barcelona - was the star attraction at Leeds between 2020 and 2022, scoring and assisting 29 goals in just 67 games, so deadly on either flank or in a number ten role.

Cutting in onto his favoured left foot, Raphinha so often proved the difference-maker, with Monga already showing flashes of similar quality, having memorably curled home against Preston North End back in August.

A statement showing against Wrexham in September also showed what the youngster is all about, having successfully completed all four of his attempted dribbles on the day, while providing one key pass prior to his 68-minute withdrawal.

Just like Raphinha in his Leeds pomp, Monga is certainly a handful, with it evidently clear why so many clubs are chasing his signature this summer.

Farke and co might have their eyes set on more ready-made, proven first-team additions, but this might be too good an opportunity to pass up.
