Jiri Prochazka insists that Paulo Costa has received a bout offer, but “Borrachinha” is confused by the claim.
Prochazka posted a video on his Instagram account with some words for the Brazilian bruiser. The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion said the UFC is trying to book him against Costa, but it’s up to the one-time middleweight title contender to accept the fight (via MMAMania).
“This is just a quick message for Paulo Costa,” Prochazka said. “Don’t tag me, don’t mention me in your posts because you have an offer from UFC to fight me in October or November. And if you don’t want to fight me, don’t mention me, don’t speak about me. This is it. I’m waiting for the contract for this fight.”
Costa fired back in a response on his X account, saying that he hasn’t been offered the fight by anyone from the top MMA promotion.
😂EVERYONE wants to fight me because I’m THE GUY in this boring division. But the TRUTH is : so far, nobody has mentioned your name to me. So go back to doing that weird thing of yours—whatever the hell it is you’re doing, man. https://t.co/kT7U6a0h8c

Prochazka, a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, is eager to get back inside the Octagon after many believed he fumbled the bag at UFC 327 back in April. Prochazka took on Carlos Ulberg for the vacant 205-pound gold. Ulberg suffered a knee injury early and had trouble standing. Prochazka appeared to show mercy, which allowed Ulberg to capitalize by knocking him out to lay claim to the light heavyweight title.
As for Costa, he feels he’s found new life at 205 pounds. “Borrachinha” stopped Azamat Murzakanov in the third round via head kick on the same card as Prochazka’s aforementioned loss against Ulberg. Prochazka vs. Costa feels like a matchup that makes sense, but whether or not it’ll come to fruition remains to be seen.
