Khamzat Chimaev is blaming Dillon Danis for starting their post-match brawl at RAF 10.

This past Saturday, Chimaev and Danis collided on the mat for a freestyle wrestling match in St. Louis. “Borz” pinned Danis in less than a minute, but things went off the rails after Chimaev kicked “El Jefe” in the leg. A slew of members from Chimaev’s camp then went after Danis, throwing punches and kicks.

Chimaev was asked by Red Corner MMA what triggered the melee, and he mentioned Danis attempting a guillotine choke when the two were grappling (h/t Bloody Elbow).

“What should I think? Stupid guys do stupid things,” Chimaev said. “I accept something like that so he knows he wasn’t on my level in wrestling so he felt that and then he tried to sub me. Like, do submission, bro.

“If he did a submission on me I’m never gonna train again. He’s a weird guy, honestly. You know, I try to hold myself but this idiot does stupid things, what should we do?”

Chimaev was quick to get back in the competitive side of things after losing the UFC Middleweight Championship to Sean Strickland back in May. Chimaev wants to have a rematch with Strickland as he feels the judges got the result wrong in their UFC 328 encounter in Newark.

As for Danis, he once again finds himself at the center of a conflict that went beyond competition. Whether it was taking a big punch from Anthony Taylor on the street or nearly brawling with Logan Paul after a disqualification loss, Danis has been known to ruffle some feathers.
