The New York Knicks are attempting to acquire a third-string center, sources told Ian Begley of SNY.

The Knicks spoke to the Pelicans about Karlo Matkovic earlier this summer, but trade talks gained no traction.

They also attempted to sign Moussa Cisse, though the Mavs matched the Knicks' offer for the restricted free agent.

Ariel Hukporti signed a one-year deal with the Sixers in the offseason.

The Knicks still have room to sign a veteran center and stay under the second apron.
