Since the San Diego Padres acquired Luis Rengifo, he has transformed his offensive output and turned into a vital weapon. 

The Milwaukee Brewers released the utility player on June 23 after designating him for assignment following his poor performance where he slashed .205/.280/.254 with no home runs and 19 RBI across 57 games. The Padres signed him to a minor-league deal on June 26 and then he was called up to the major league roster on July 8. 

He has inevitably found his home with the Padres and has drastically improved his numbers, slashing .311/.403/ .447 with four home runs and a 144 wRC+. 

The 29-year-old has recorded nine multi-hit games with the Padres and has become a reliable spark plug. In the Padres' 6-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Friday, Rengifo went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.

Rengifo has come up clutch for the Padres, and one of his biggest offensive highlights this season was when he recorded his first career grand slam against his former team (Brewers) on Aug. 11 that led to an 11-2 victory. 

In addition to his improved offense, he has also provided positional versatility for the Padres as they've been able to utilize him both in the infield and outfield. 

He's also demonstrated solid plate discipline with a 13.2% strikeout rate that ranks in the 90th percentile, and he is batting .310 against four-seam fastballs. 

Since he made his debut with the Padres, he has been a solid contributor who has helped them heat up in the National League (NL) wild-card race. They currently hold a final wild-card spot, but the Arizona Diamondbacks are only one game behind them.
