Adeleye arrives with a 14-2 record, collecting 13 knockouts along the way. The split from Queensberry suits everyone involved. Matchroom secures an established puncher who can headline regular DAZN broadcasts, and Adeleye leaves a crowded stable where Moses Itauma, Daniel Dubois, and Fabio Wardley soaked up the marquee dates.

At Queensberry, he was in danger of becoming the recognizable name used to advance somebody else. Matchroom can present him as an attraction again, particularly in regional arenas where a hostile press conference and the threat of an early knockout help sell tickets.

Adeleye brings obvious flaws, but being boring has never been one of them. His fights carry danger, he is comfortable playing the villain, and controversy tends to follow him. That combination gives Hearn something to promote even when no belt is involved.

The tougher question is how far Matchroom believes it can take him.

Adeleye lost a decision to Filip Hrgovic in August 2025 because world class fighters know how to neutralize raw power. Hrgovic backed him up, cut off his punches, and made him wait for single right hands that never landed clean. Adeleye had power, but his feet were slow, his jab barely existed, and his punch count stayed too low to win rounds.

That loss made it clear how Matchroom should steer him. Putting him in with another top contender right now turns him into an expensive opponent instead of a headliner. He needs two decisive wins in Britain so he can raise his punch volume, score knockouts, and build interest for an arena fight people will pay to see.

Frazer Clarke or Johnny Fisher would generate interest, although either contest would require an agreement with another promoter. A rematch with Solomon Dacres is easier to sell as unfinished domestic business, but Adeleye’s 80-second knockout victory makes it difficult to argue that a second fight is necessary.

Hearn does not need to pretend Adeleye is the next ruler of the heavyweight division. His value is more immediate: he can headline, punch, irritate people, and give DAZN cards an edge. Matchroom simply has to resist cashing him out before that value has been rebuilt.
