Max Holloway warns Islam Makhachev to never question his UFC resume following a double-champ dig

The competitive trash talk between Max Holloway and Islam Makhachev has revved up.

During a live stream on Kick, Holloway reacted to Makhachev’s successful welterweight title defense over Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330 this past Saturday. “Blessed” took exception to Makhachev carrying two championships inside the Octagon despite vacating the lightweight gold in 2025.

Makhachev responded on social media, saying that Holloway wouldn’t know what it’s like to carry two titles. The Hawaiian fan favorite refused to bite his tongue and explained why he found it odd that Makhachev still walks around with two belts.

“Guy gotta do his homework… Don’t ever come for my throat, bro. Especially when you’re hiding behind another man on IG. You’re messing with the wrong one.

“Yeah, I saw the clip after the fight,” Holloway said. “Before he won his second title, he gave up his first title, and Ilia already won the title before he even did it. So, him having it, why? I ain’t even gonna say nothing about him. We know somebody else runs his social media for him.”

Holloway then showcased all the championships he’s won throughout his UFC history. He brought out the current version of the UFC Featherweight Championship, his legacy titles, and the BMF Championship. “Blessed” also criticized Makhachev’s team for being “mad” about his opinion of Makhachev still carrying two titles at the conclusion of UFC 330.

The former 145-pound king then took aim at Makhachev for not running his own social media pages.

“Don’t ever come for my throat, bro,” Holloway said. “Especially when you’re hiding behind another man’s IG. It is what it is. You guys can be mad at me for saying what I said. Don’t you ever come for my neck and tell me I don’t know how heavy it is. Brother, I got a bunch of those bad boys in my house with me.”

Holloway then fired a warning shot at the pound-for-pound great’s team.

“You’re messing with the wrong one,” Holloway said.

Where things stand in terms of Holloway’s next fight is uncertain. His UFC 329 clash with Conor McGregor back in July ended in disappointment after the “Notorious” one blew out his knee early. While McGregor appears to be on the shelf until at least summer 2027, “Blessed” isn’t likely to wait that long before stepping back inside the Octagon.
