Maximilian Spies suffered serious injuries in his heavy crash during the ADAC MX Masters in Vellahn. The German rider fractured several vertebrae in his neck, with dislocations also occurring. Spies underwent emergency surgery that same night and is now facing a long rehabilitation process.

In the crash, Spies landed heavily on his head in an unfortunate impact and was subsequently hit by his motorcycle as well. Shortly after the accident, he began experiencing reduced sensation in his arms and legs, as well as breathing difficulties.

At St. Georg Hospital in Hamburg, Spies underwent an emergency operation lasting around five hours that same night. On Sunday morning, there was cautiously positive news: sensation in his arms and legs had slowly begun to return.

Spies is still in considerable pain and will require a second operation to further stabilize his cervical spine. After that, he faces a long road to recovery.

His family says that the road back to normal life will be long and difficult, but that Spies remains determined to fight. True to his strong mentality, he has reportedly already started making plans to eventually get back on a motorcycle.

The family would like to thank all the emergency responders, nurses and Dr. Nagel for their initial care and medical treatment. They are also asking fans to support Spies with positive messages and words of encouragement during this difficult time.
