Arsenal are taking calls about Gabriel Jesus, with one Italian side seeming to lead the race to try and sign him this summer.

Arsenal have been trying to sell Gabriel Jesus for some time now, and it looks like they may finally get their wish this window.

TeamTalk’s Fraser Fletcher has come in with an update on the forward’s future as the Gunners look for a new home for the 29 year old, who has now slipped behind Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz (and sometimes Mikel Merino) in Mikel Arteta’s pecking order up front.

The Gunners’ asking price is reportedly set at £20m, and they’ve “fielded enquiries from several clubs.”

Napoli take the lead in race for Jesus

Turkish clubs Fenerbahce and Besiktas are among those who have been in contact – but it seems that Napoli are the “most active suitors” in recent days. They’ve been in touch with Jesus’ agents as they try to work out if a deal is possible.

In the past, Jesus was quoted as saying that it was his “dream” to play in Italy.

Arsenal won’t consider a loan because Jesus is into the final stages of his contract. A permanent deal is all they will countenance, and it’s now a question of whether Napoli can reach the asking price.

Max Allegri’s new team are hoping to sell wantaway forward Romelu Lukaku to make room on the books and in the transfer budget for Jesus. That has to be their priority now, and they must work fast to ensure they don’t miss out on the Arsenal man – AC Milan and Juventus have also been linked with him.
