No. 1 Nebraska and No. 2 Texas square off Sunday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as the final match of the Players Era Volleyball Showcase, marking the first regular-season meeting between the two programs in a decade.

The Cornhuskers enter at 1-0 after a sweep of UNLV on Saturday; the Longhorns bring a 2-1 record into the contest.

It is the 58th all-time meeting between the schools, with Nebraska holding a 33-25 edge in the series.

Their most recent clash came in the 2023 national championship, where Texas defeated the Huskers in straight sets to claim the title.

Nebraska's Early-Season Form

Nebraska opened its 2026 campaign at the Spikes Under the Lights exhibition in Arlington, Texas, where, as reported by Cornhuskers Wire, outside hitter Harper Murray and setter Bergen Reilly led the Huskers past No. 17 Florida and No. 11 SMU to win the championship — [Nebraska Sweeps SMU to Claim Spikes Under the Lights Title and Historic $1 Million Prize Pool].

Murray recorded 11 kills at a .364 hitting efficiency against UNLV on Saturday, while Reilly orchestrated the offense to a .414 clip for the match.

Three All-Americans populate Nebraska's starting lineup: Murray, Reilly, and middle blocker Andi Jackson.

The Huskers also carried last season's dominance into this year, having posted a .351 team hitting percentage and a .129 opponents' hitting percentage, both tops nationally in 2025, while setting a new school record for team efficiency.

Texas Steadies After Rough Start

The Longhorns stumbled out of the gate, falling to No. 12 Arizona State in four sets before grinding out a five-set win over Marquette, [No. 2 Texas Rallies Past Marquette in Five Sets to Close AVCA First Serve].

Texas steadied itself with a sweep of No. 18 TCU on Saturday to close pool play.

Outside hitter Torrey Stafford and outside hitter Cari Spears present matchup problems at the net, while middle blocker Nya Bunton will be tasked with containing Nebraska's pins.

Texas has beaten the No. 1-ranked team in each of its last two such matchups, topping Nebraska in the 2023 championship and No. 1 Wisconsin in 2020.

Broadcast and Venue Details

Sunday's match tips off at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX from T-Mobile Arena.

It is the 34th time the top two ranked teams in Division I women's volleyball have met in the regular season, and the first No. 1 vs. No. 2 regular-season showdown since Nebraska played Wisconsin in 2023, according to NCAA.com.
