Newcastle head to Elland Road on Monday night with Matthias Jaissle facing another revealing exam of his start so far.

The Magpies remain unbeaten under their new boss and victory over Leeds would provide more proof that a turbulent summer hasn't knocked them off course.

Both clubs have collected five points from their opening three Premier League games, creating an early chance to climb.

Newcastle have already shown several sides to their game, fighting back to draw 2-2 with Liverpool, producing an excellent 2-0 away win at Tottenham and then recovering from two goals down to rescue another 2-2 draw against Bournemouth.

Jaissle has a decision to make over Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who is pushing for his first Newcastle start after completing a full week of training, with the boss already expressing what a huge fan he is of their summer signing.

The previous meeting delivered a remarkable 4-3 Newcastle win in January, settled deep into stoppage time. Monday may be less chaotic, but it should tell supporters plenty about how quickly Jaissle’s methods are taking hold.
