The Indiana Pacers are bringing a familiar face back for training camp. Veteran forward James Johnson has signed an Exhibit 9 contract with Indiana.

Johnson did not play last season but was with the Pacers from 2022 through 2025. Indiana values the 16-year veteran's presence in the locker room.

The Pacers do have an open standard roster spot. However, Indiana is already more than $5.8 million over the luxury tax. It's been expected that the Pacers would leave that spot open into the regular season.

Indiana also waived Kowacie Reeves Jr. and Jalen Warley. Both Reeves and Warley are expected to join the Noblesville Boom for the upcoming G League season.
