UFC star Paddy Pimblett still believes that he can beat Arman Tsarukyan despite the latter’s dominant UFC 331 win.

At UFC 331, Arman Tsarukyan was able to knock Mauricio Ruffy out cold with a really nasty elbow that should put him in line for a world championship opportunity. Someone else, whoever, who is on the hunt for a big fight, is none other than Paddy Pimblett.

Paddy Pimblett, who recently defeated Benoit Saint Denis pretty comprehensively, previously challenged for the interim lightweight title, and he wants to keep proving he can mix it up with the big boys at 155 pounds.

In a recent reaction video, Paddy Pimblett had the following to say about Arman Tsarukyan.

“I’ve got to give him his due,” Pimblett admitted while watching the fight play out. “As much as I don’t like him, that was a naughty elbow.” However, he didn’t stay complimentary for long as he branded the rest of the performance ‘pretty s—‘.

“I thought he looked pretty s— up until the point of the elbow,” he continued. “His eye is messed up already, I wish he never landed that just to see how the second and third would have went. [Ruffy] was just thinking of wrestling, thinking of wrestling.

“But when they separated with 15 seconds to go, Ruffy should have tried to put it on him. He was staying against the fence… That was a statement, but I’d still punch his head in. I think that showed holes in his game. His wrestling is not as good as he thinks it is.

“His eye is mashed up after one right hand and I would have liked to see how that fight would have gone on. He couldn’t get Ruffy down and over the last couple of years Ruffy hasn’t shown himself to have the best takedown defence.

“Everyone goes on like Arman’s got the best wrestling in the UFC and he showed there that he hasn’t whatsoever. I wasn’t expecting him to knock him out at all, even if it was in the clinch with a short elbow.”
