On a recent episode of The Hoop Collective, ESPN's Tim MacMahon gave some insight into the Detroit Pistons thinking with restricted free agent Jalen Duren. MacMahon reported that the Pistons have let other teams know that they have no intention of helping Duren leaving Detroit.

"The one restricted free agency situation that remains unresolved is Jalen Duren, who the Pistons absolutely positively 100% intend to keep, and made it clear to anybody pursuing him in a sign-and-trade possibilities like, you're wasting your time," MacMahon said.

Duren is the last remaining restricted free agent, after Peyton Watson was signed-and-traded from the Denver Nuggets to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The LA Clippers also withdrew the qualifying offer for Bennedict Mathurin, clearing the way for the guard to sign with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Detroit and Duren have reportedly been far apart in contract negotiations. Duren qualified for an up to 30% of the cap maximum deal after making All-NBA for the 2025-26 season. The 22-year-old center is reportedly not looking for the full 30% of the cap max, but would like to come in around the 25% of the cap max. That would see Duren's contract start at just over $41 million. The Pistons are reportedly offering Duren a deal that starts close to $30 million.
