Danny Röhl left Ibrox for Red Bull Salzburg in June, opening the door for Derek McInnes to return to the club he represented as a player.

McInnes arrived after guiding Hearts to second place and taking the title race to the final day. His first transfer window has since brought sweeping changes across almost every area of the Rangers squad.

Lawrence Shankland was among the earliest arrivals after scoring 20 goals for Hearts last term. Midfielder Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin also joined, while Rangers paid around £6 m for goalkeeper Ivor Pandur and brought Ross McCrorie back to Glasgow.

Former Everton defender Ben Godfrey arrived on loan from Atalanta, while highly-rated Partizan Belgrade midfielder Vanja Dragojevic cost more than £4m.

South African defender Olwethu Makhanya and Japanese winger Daisuke Yokota were also recruited, with Yokota becoming the club’s ninth summer addition in a deal worth an initial £2.75m.

The overhaul continued with two new full backs.

James Penrice returned to Scotland on loan from AEK Athens before Kosta Nedeljkovic arrived from Aston Villa, taking Rangers to 11 senior signings.

There have also been major departures to offset that.

James Tavernier ended his remarkable 11-year association with the club, while Jack Butland and Danilo were among those moved on as Rangers attempted to reduce the wage bill and reshape an unbalanced squad.

However, Rangers’ Europa League qualifying defeat to Jagiellonia Białystok showed there is still plenty of work to do.

Adding another quick and unpredictable wide player has become particularly important after Youssef Chermiti suffered a serious knee injury.

That search now appears to have produced a major breakthrough.

Min-su Kim accepts offer to join Rangers from Girona in £8.5m deal

Spanish journalist Ivan Quirós claims Min-su Kim has accepted an offer from Rangers and that Girona will receive £8.5m for the transfer.

Quirós reports that the payment will be spread across instalments rather than Rangers activating a release clause in one lump sum. He has described the deal as 'done', although neither club has briefed it to the media at the time of writing.

Kim is a 20-year-old South Korean attacker who is most comfortable on the left wing, but can also operate from the right or behind a striker.

He spent last season on loan with FC Andorra and produced six goals and four assists across 40 La Liga 2 appearances.

The right-footed winger had already made six senior appearances for Girona, including three in La Liga and one in the Champions League. His European debut came against PSV Eindhoven when he was just 18.

Kim would become Rangers’ 12th summer signing if the move is confirmed, but more importantly, his arrival would give McInnes another direct attacking option with the potential to develop significantly at Ibrox.
