As always, Jacob Misiorowski did his part in the Milwaukee Brewers' win over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday.

And while he wasn't able to earn the win—Milwaukee won 4-3 with a walk-off in the 10th— Jacob Misiorowski did reach a major milestone in his 22nd start of the season.

Jacob Misiorowski surpassed 200 strikeouts at a historic pace

With nine strikeouts in his six innings of work, Misiorowski surpassed 200 for the season. He finished his outing with exactly 204 on the year.

Misiorowski, 11-5, still holding a sub-2.00 ERA at 1.76 despite allowing three runs to the Twins, only needed 129.1 innings to get to 200, the second fewest at the time of a pitcher's 200th strikeout in MLB history.

Misiorowski was close to breaking the record set just three years ago

The only pitcher to ever land on 200 in fewer innings is Spencer Strider, recording his 200th at inning 123.1 three years ago. Strider ended up striking out 281 batters in just 186.2 innings with the Atlanta Braves in 2023.

Misiorowski, 24, also passed Stridder's 202-strikeout season in 2022 in only 131.2 innings. Baseball legend Randy Johnson was at 200 with around the same inning total in 2001, the same season he posted 372 strikeouts, his single-season high, and was named co-World Series MVP for the Arizona Diamondbacks with Curt Schilling

Misiorowski's velocity has been off the charts all season

Leading to his 200+ strikeouts, Misiorowski's speed and velocity of his pitches are what's been building his Cy Young campaign. He now owns most of the games with most 100+ mph pitches in the pitch-tracking era (2008) — his 66 from July 26 is the current record.

most 100+ mph pitches in a game, pitch-tracking era (2008):

His current season of dominance is also out of nowhere, based on his first 15 MLB starts last year. Misiorowski, who made his MLB debut on June 12, 2025, was 5-3 with a 4.36 ERA and 87 strikeouts in exactly 66 innings before taking the mound at the start of the 2026 season, one that is on track to conclude with individual hardware and the now-74-4 Brewers leading the National League.
