The Rays announced this morning that right-hander Manuel Rodríguez has been reinstated from the 60-day injured list. Rodríguez’s impending return was reported on Friday. Meanwhile, fellow righty Chris Roycroft has been designated for assignment to make room for Rodríguez on the active and 40-man rosters.

Roycroft came to Tampa Bay in a minor trade with the Cardinals exactly two months ago. The Cardinals were to receive a player to be named later or cash in return. The Rays optioned Roycroft to Triple-A Durham after the trade, and they’ve since recalled him three times. The 29-year-old has thrown 19 1/3 innings for Tampa with a 6.52 ERA, posting a strong 50.0% ground ball rate but striking out just 16.3% of opponents while allowing 24 hits, including six home runs.
