Real Madrid has signed center Damian Jones through the end of the 2026-27 season, the Spanish club announced Friday. The 31-year-old arrives after winning the Puerto Rican league championship with Vaqueros de Bayamon.

Jones brings eight seasons of NBA experience to Madrid after appearing for the Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz and Cleveland Cavaliers. He won two NBA championships with Golden State in 2017 and 2018.

The 7-footer played 279 NBA regular-season games, including 75 starts, according to the available statistical record. He averaged 4.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 13.6 minutes per game while shooting 65.6% from the field.

Jones’ largest NBA role came with Sacramento in 2021-22, when he appeared in 56 games and averaged 8.1 points and 4.4 rebounds in 18.2 minutes. He converted 65.8% of his field-goal attempts that season.

His previous NBA campaign came with Cleveland in 2023-24, when he played 39 games and averaged 2.7 points and 1.6 rebounds in 6.9 minutes. Jones then continued his career outside the NBA before joining Bayamon and winning the Puerto Rican championship.

The signing gives Real Madrid another experienced option at center after the departures of Alex Len and Bruno Fernando from the 2025-26 EuroLeague frontcourt. Edy Tavares remains the club’s established interior presence after averaging 9.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 39 EuroLeague games last season.

Jones’ profile differs from that of Tavares but adds another traditional center capable of finishing efficiently around the basket. Across his NBA career, he shot at least 64.0% from the field in five different seasons, including 71.6% with Golden State in 2018-19 and 71.4% during his 19-game stint with Utah in 2022-23.

Real Madrid finished third in the 2025-26 EuroLeague regular season with a 24-14 record before reaching the championship game. Madrid defeated Hapoel Tel Aviv 3-1 in the playoff series and beat Valencia 105-90 in the Final Four semifinals before losing 92-85 to Olympiacos in the final.

Jones is the latest addition to a roster that has undergone significant changes following the departure of several established players. Madrid has also added Jaime Pradilla, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, Mikael Jantunen, Max Shulga, Oliver Sarr and Eli Ndiaye, while Pedro Martínez has taken over as head coach.
