UFC bantamweight star Payton Talbott will face arguably the toughest test of his career in a reported UFC 332 matchup.

Bantamweight Payton Talbott responded to his first professional Mixed Martial Arts loss with back-to-back wins over Felipe Lima and Henry Cejudo in 2025. The former Dana White’s Contender Series standout is on the verge of potentially earning a Top 15 spot with another victory.

Talbott is one of several intriguing prospects in the bantamweight division. As UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan prepares for a likely trilogy with Merab Dvalishvili, Talbott and other contenders are looking to make statements to wrap up the calendar year.

After a long hiatus from competition, Talbott will reportedly face a former UFC champion in arguably the biggest test of his career.

Payton Talbott set for career-best test in reported UFC 332 matchup

As first reported by MMA journalist Leo Guimaraes, a matchup between Talbott and former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo (25-7-1) is in the works for UFC 332 in Salt Lake City. The card is scheduled for October 3rd.

Figueiredo will return to the Octagon, looking to get back on track after an up-and-down move to the bantamweight division. Figueiredo has lost four of his last five fights, including his most recent loss to Song Yadong at UFC Macau in May.

The 38-year-old Figueiredo is looking to reclaim the form that earned him the title as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in Mixed Martial Arts. His most recent victory came against Montel Jackson last October by split decision.

UFC 332 marks the promotion’s return to Salt Lake City for the first time since UFC 307 in October 2024. The card was headlined by a light heavyweight title matchup between Alex Pereira and Khalil Rountree Jr.

As of this writing, the UFC has yet to announce a main event for the scheduled UFC 332 card.
