Saturday's Budds Creek National was quite a wild day of racing all around. No one knows this more than RJ Hampshire, who said he raced basically the entire first 450 Class moto on Saturday without his shifter!

He said the following in the Husqvarna post-race recap:

"My day started good. The skies then opened, and it got pretty muddy! I didn't get off the gate well in Moto 1, and then made contact with someone and damaged my gear shifter. I was stuck in second gear the whole first moto and salvaged what I could, and then second moto was a bit better. I just needed to be a little better today and didn't really have it, so we have one to go, and I want to finish the season strong in Indiana."

Hampshire posted photos to his Instagram page with the following caption:

“BUDDDSSSSS!
Not our day. Lost my shifter first lap of moto 1 and was stuck in 2nd gear the whole moto. I felt good moto 2, just wasn’t good enough to make the passes stick early! One more chance next weekend 👊🏼”

Hampshire finished 12-6 for tenth overall. His 12th in the first moto, again without his shifter, was his first finish outside the top ten all summer long! The #24 is known to always give it his all and this weekend was no different, shifter on his bike or not!
