Ryan Garcia stopped Conor Benn in two rounds, but eleven days later he is questioning the gloves Benn wore. Ryan says Benn’s pair looked smaller than his despite both fighters using the same Everlast model. He directed the complaint at the manufacturer and said Benn was not at fault.

“I find it very untrusting and disrespectful that Conor gloves were smaller than mine. I like Conor not his fault but everlast that is strange considering we have the same Model hmmmm,” Ryan posted on X.

The same model name does not guarantee two pairs will look identical. Fit, hand wraps, and small differences in how a glove is made can change its outline, even if both pairs meet the agreed weight. Ryan has not provided measurements showing Benn’s gloves were lighter or carried less padding. A pair looking smaller gives him reason to ask Everlast for an explanation; it does not establish that Benn gained an advantage.

Nevada’s inspection rules offer a way to test the concern. Commission officials must examine fight gloves before a bout. For a championship fight, the gloves must be new, arrive in sealed containers, and fit the fighters’ hands. Officials must replace a glove if its padding is misplaced or lumpy, or if it fails to meet the fighters’ agreement. Ryan has not said that he or his team objected before the opening bell.

Ryan had already focused on glove weight during fight week, seeking to keep eight-ounce gloves in use at welterweight. Nevada permits that weight above 135 pounds through 147 when both fighters agree. His new complaint concerns the apparent size of Benn’s pair, which is a different question from what the gloves weighed.

It is an unusual issue to raise after winning by stoppage. If Ryan wants to take it further, the glove inspection details would be more useful than judging their size from fight footage.
