UFC welterweight contender Sean Brady backed Din Thomas to serve as a cornerman in his next fight despite his controversial ‘retirement’.

UFC analyst and former fighter Din Thomas remains at the center of controversy after UFC 330 earlier this month. Thomas, who cornered strawweight title challenger Gillian Robertson in her loss to Mackenzie Dern, announced his ‘retirement’ from cornering on the UFC on Paramount+ post-fight show.

Thomas’ decision to make the announcement publicly drew ire from fans and pundits. He has since apologized for stealing the spotlight from Robertson, but recently hinted at cornering at least one more time after UFC 330.

Thomas’ longtime protege, UFC welterweight contender Sean Brady, will clash against Gabriel Bonfim in a UFC Apex main event later this year. Brady most recently defeated Joaquin Buckley in a dominant performance at UFC 328.

The optics of Thomas potentially cornering again aren’t great, but Brady believes Thomas earned the right to serve in his corner should he decide to.

Sean Brady supports Din Thomas’ cornering despite UFC 330 ‘retirement

In a recent interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Brady was asked about Thomas potentially cornering him for his upcoming headliner.

“The thing with Din is – I don’t agree with what he said and how he said it. I felt like that is definitely something I would want said in private,” Brady said of Thomas.

“I love Din. Din has flown up to Philly multiple times and never asked me for anything. He’s done a lot of good things for me and my team. I’m still going to be working with him; I don’t know if he’s going to be in my corner. But if he wants to be in my corner, I will gladly have him.

“He’s not my head [cornerman], but I love Din,” Brady continued. “He plays an important role. It’ll be a loss if he decides not to, but if he decides not to, I completely understand.”
