Yamaha Press Release: Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing to Withdraw from Consideration for 2026 MXoN
Marietta, GA — 8/23/26 — Due to the demanding schedule of the SMX series, and after factoring in the associated travel and support costs, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing and Yamaha Motor USA have collectively decided to withdraw both its 250 and 450 teams from consideration in participating in the upcoming 2026 MXoN in Ernée, France.
"After numerous discussions between the team principals and Yamaha management, both Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing and Yamaha Motor USA have collectively made the difficult decision to step back from this year’s MXoN competition,” said Jim Roach, Yamaha Racing Manager.
“We’re choosing to prioritize the health and safety of our riders, which includes affording them, and the entire team, a period of time to recover from the 2026 season. When you factor in the logistical challenges and costs of shipping and converting bikes to FIM spec, the team respectfully wants to stay focused on its continued preparation for the upcoming 2027 SMX season.”
The team expresses its gratitude to the AMA for consideration, and appreciates its fans, partners, and the broader moto community for their understanding and support.

..apart from the FIM teams that organise a bike for GP riders who want to do an AMA race on off weekends.

This was starting to become the most obvious outcome the closer it got. Deegan has said himself he doesnt wanna race mxon unless its on a team he can win with. With the lawrences out deegz, jcoop, and levi could honestly be a pretty decent team, but theyre not a clear and away frontrunner that wont even have to try the way deegz wants mxon to go. The US talent is if anything going to drop off a bit in the next years as more ppl retire so maybe he never goes??

Such an obvious cover job for deegan who has been hinting hes not going unless he gets a payday for weeks now.
Yet they can afford to send his bike a week later for the WSX race in the UK 🤔
I agree with Pop completely, but your point about WSX isn't directly comparable because they are being paid to race WSX.

Didn’t feel like writing it again but posted this in the other thread:
It is pretty sad. Also is there a reason we don’t hear anything about raising funds or sending a team until August? Since MX and SX is a “team” now with the SMX series championship, kick off the talk with A1 at the beginning of the SX season. Start fundraising at the beginning of the year. Ask teams/riders at the opening press conference if they are in if selected. Come on Feld and MXSports make it happen. If a lowly podcast can raise $100k for privateers surely the entire industry can get the necessary funds…
