This was an offensive outburst, at least by the newly reduced hitting standards of these Judge-less Yankees. They needed this in a big way. The Yankees needed this win, and they needed this relative explosion of hits. 

Yes, this has been a very trying 10 weeks since the great Aaron Judge went down with a broken rib. 

Surely, we knew the lineup would suffer. But this much? Who knew the vaunted Yankees lineup would fall so far that it was baseball’s worst, at least by a few measures (more on that below)? 

Maybe the sudden Yankees eruption Tuesday night at the Stadium — five hits, a walk and four runs within six batters — is a sign they may finally be getting their batting act together. Or maybe it’s merely a reflection of a cold opponent whose manager played right into their lefty-heavy hands by utilizing two run-of-the-mill righty relievers after a frontline starter and tough lefty continued the Yankees lineup’s misery by shutting them out the first six innings.
