The shooting occurred near 43rd Street and Broadway as massive crowds gathered across New York City after the Knicks clinched the NBA championship.
Authorities said NYPD officers transported the victim to a hospital because ambulances were unable to reach the scene due to overcrowded streets.
Police recovered a firearm and reportedly have three persons of interest in custody as the investigation continues.
Officials also reported four slashings and stabbings across Manhattan during the celebrations, along with damage to several school buses.
Large crowds occupied major intersections for hours, creating traffic disruptions and making emergency access difficult.
While thousands celebrated the Knicks’ title, authorities are now investigating multiple incidents that occurred during the postgame festivities.
