Despite both signing contracts earlier this year, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are yet to confirm their all-British heavyweight super fight.

Fury beat Maurisz Wach in Thailand and ‘AJ’ beat Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia to tee up the showdown. With both ‘warm-up’ fights ticked off, an announcement was expected imminently.

However, further discussions on the location of the mega fight continue behind the scenes, with Fury, in his own words, happy to fight anywhere, but Joshua’s side insistent that it takes place in the UK, as per their contract. The backers of the event, Saudi Arabia’s Sela and Netflix, want the fight to take place in the US to maximise the streaming audience.

The conflict has led some – including Fury himself – to speculate that the fight could fall apart entirely.

Speaking to Boxing King Media, Tyson’s brother, Shane, a key part of the team, confirmed that ‘The Gypsy King’ will fight in November in the States regardless of whether or not Joshua is in the opposite corner.

“The fight’s the 20th of November. Time’s rolling on. It doesn’t affect us, because we’re fighting on that date anyway. Tyson’s over in America now, training, as we speak. He’s got his nutritionist, his strength and conditioning [coach], his trainer. If it’s not [Joshua], Tyson will be fighting on that day. It really don’t affect us. Tyson is the cash cow to Netflix.”

As things stand, it is not expected to come to that, with Joshua’s team awaiting a response to new terms that will see them sign for the fight to go ahead at Madison Square Garden. Hearn, however, holds out hope that Sela and Netflix will u-turn and give the green light for it to take place in the UK.
