The return of Vasiliy Lomachenko is imminent and Gervonta Davis is one of his main targets, but the Ukrainian fan-favourite has been warned that he must wait for his turn, if he indeed wants to purse a clash with the Baltimore-born brute.

Davis was last victorious back in June 2024, when he defended his WBA lightweight world title with a knockout of Frank Martin. He defended that belt again last March, in a controversial draw with Lamont Roach, but he has not fought since, with external issues causing an extended period of inactivity.

As a result, the WBA stripped Davis of the world title, but named him as champion-in-recess, with Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi expected to fight for the vacant belt – the victor then being expected to face Davis in an attempted first defence.

Although, it seems as though the WBA are now waiting to see whether Davis will return and fight Schofield in a battle for the belt, despite rumours of a rematch between Davis and Isaac Cruz.

Now, additional fight speculations has emerged, with ‘Loma’ becoming the latest fighter to call for a showdown with Davis, who looked out of sorts against Roach last time out. On X, Schofield told Lomachenko to join the queue.

“What is up everybody? It’s ‘Kid Austin’. I’m looking a lil’ rough right now because I am in the gym 24/7! Anyway, I seen the news about Lomachenko wanting to fight ‘Tank’.

“In my humble opinion, I know that Lomachenko is a great, a legend, but I am the number one contender to fight ‘Tank’.

“So, you either got to wait on the back burner or let’s get the [our] fight going. Anyway, we still waiting to see what ‘Tank’ is doing and then I think that we are lining that Lucas Bahdi fight up, hopefully, because y’all know I want to get him out of the way.

“Like I said, Lomachenko is a great, but I am the number one contender and me and ‘Tank’ have got to run it first before he goes anywhere.”

It has also been reported that Lomachenko wants to take on unified super-featherweight world champion Emanuel Navarrete, promising that he will take ‘no tune-up fights’ upon his return.
