Presented by FXR Racing:  After a two-week break, the 450 class returns at Unadilla with Hunter Lawrence still in control of the championship. Hunter enters round nine with 367 points and a 12-point advantage over Jett Lawrence after taking the Washougal overall with 2-1 moto scores. Jett went 1-3 for second overall, while Haiden Deegan put together another strong afternoon with 4-2 finishes for third. Deegan remains third in the championship, 69 points behind Hunter, with Jorge Prado fourth and R.J. Hampshire fifth. Jett has been especially strong at Unadilla since moving to the 450 class, while Hunter comes into the weekend having won the last two Nationals and carrying the red plate into the final three rounds. The field also gets deeper this weekend with Aaron Plessinger, Justin Cooper, Christian Craig and Malcolm Stewart among the riders returning to action. With the Lawrence brothers separated by only 12 points and Deegan still searching for his first 450 overall win, qualifying at Unadilla should give us the first indication of who has the speed as the championship enters its final stretch.

450 OVERALL QUALIFYING

Jett Lawrence would run the same exact lap times in both sessions.

As expected, Jett would top the leaderboard, this comes as no surprise. Hunter, Prado, and Deegan would round the top four and are all within a half second of each other. Justin Cooper is back from the concussion he suffered at Hagtown to put himself in 5th overall. The Australian Jed Beaton, former MXGP and MX2 racer,  puts his CDR Yamaha into 6th. Honorable mention Zach Osbourne is fresh off a Loretta Lynn title win, he puts himself into 12th. Very impressive for a guy who hasn’t raced a national in 1,897 days!

Prado, fresh off his contract signing, seems to be putting in some extra effort here at Unadilla.

450 QUALIFYING RESULTS SESSION 1

R.J. Hampshire has been consistently upfront, though his performances seem overshadowed because he is not quite at the pace of the leaders.

Good to see Garrett Marchbanks back on track after his crash at Washougal, he would be the first rider to top the leaderboard with a 2:16. Garrett would eventually end up 5th. Haiden Deegan and Jorge Pardo would battle for the top for a few laps in a row. Jorge would ultimately top Deegan by under one-hundredth of a second. As the trend continued, the Hondas would top the leaderboard. Jett would top his brother by over half a second, but if we know Hunter, he’ll have something to say about that during race time.

Cornelius Tondel continues to progress on board the Factory Kawasaki.

Hunter Lawrence currently sits in the driver’s seat with a small margin over Jett Lawrence.
