Orgo-Life the new way to the future

The Cleveland Cavaliers could make another roster move after a busy week that included acquiring Peyton Watson from the Denver Nuggets and bringing James Harden back on a new contract.

Watson’s sign-and-trade left Cleveland hard-capped at the first apron. With Harden’s new deal reportedly beginning at slightly more than $30 million, the Cavaliers now have very limited financial flexibility.

One option being considered is waiving Cam Whitmore and stretching the remaining $5.4 million on his contract. Cleveland acquired Whitmore as part of the five-team transaction involving Watson.

If the Cavaliers choose that route, Whitmore’s salary would be spread across three seasons at approximately $1.8 million per year. That would create around $3.6 million in additional room below the hard cap this season.

Cleveland would then need another player to fill the open roster spot. One possibility is Ismael Kamagate, whose draft rights were also acquired in the trade.

Signing Kamagate to a rookie minimum contract could help Cleveland satisfy its roster requirements while adding another frontcourt option at a relatively low cost.
