The Sacramento Kings will carry DeMar DeRozan’s remaining $10 million salary over the next three seasons after stretching the money following his buyout, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Scotto reported Tuesday that Sacramento will have a $3.33 million charge for DeRozan in each of the next three seasons, covering 2026-27 through 2028-29.

DeRozan had one season and $10 million remaining on his contract when the Kings waived him in early July. The stretch provision spreads that remaining salary across three years rather than keeping the full $10 million charge on Sacramento’s 2026-27 books.

The 37-year-old has since found a new opportunity in Denver, signing a one-year, $3.9 million veteran minimum contract with the Nuggets on August 21. The move gives DeRozan a chance to pursue his first NBA championship in what will be his 18th season.

Denver finished 54-28 in 2025-26, good for the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, before losing to Minnesota in the first round. Sacramento, meanwhile, went 22-60 and finished 14th in the West, making DeRozan’s move to Denver a significant change in competitive circumstances.

DeRozan remained productive despite the Kings’ struggles last season. He appeared in 77 games and averaged 18.4 points, 4.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 31.2 minutes per game while shooting 49.7% from the field.

His scoring volume declined from 22.2 points in 77 games during his first Sacramento season in 2024-25, but his efficiency improved from 47.7% to 49.7% overall. DeRozan also averaged just 1.2 turnovers per game in 2025-26, his lowest mark since his rookie season.

Across 17 NBA seasons, DeRozan has played 1,264 games and averaged 21.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He has been named an All-Star six times and earned three All-NBA selections.
