X-LAB, the performance bike brand from Chinese manufacturer XDS, has revealed its first mountain bike: a full-suspension cross-country race bike built for the Kazakhstan National MTB Team.

The brand posted photos of the bike to Instagram on Monday, saying the “new platform” is being unveiled at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. “The new X-LAB MTB for the Kazakhstan National MTB Team is finally racing,” the caption reads, before teasing: “What does that mean for X-LAB in the US and beyond? Subscribe and follow for more updates.” The mountain biking competition at the Asian Games takes place on September 23 and 24, with the women and men competing on those dates, respectively.

X-LAB launched in the USA on April 8, 2026, with five road bikes, two commuter e-bikes, a city bike, and the GT8 gravel bike, which we noted sells for roughly half the price of comparable bikes from Specialized and Trek. At the time, Singletracks reported that a full-suspension mountain bike was on the way. This appears to be it.

The bike looks to use a fairly standard flex-stay design with a shock layout that is similar to the Santa Cruz Blur 4 and Orbea Oiz. With a RockShox SID up front, it’s safe to assume the bike has 120mm of suspension travel in front, and up to that amount in the rear.

Brands entering the mountain bike market typically start with a hardtail, which is simpler and cheaper to engineer and manufacture, before tackling the added complexity of a suspension linkage. X-LAB seems to be skipping that step entirely to debut with a full-suspension race bike, the same top-down approach the brand took on the road side, where its bikes are raced by the XDS Astana WorldTour team.

Parent company XDS already sells hardtail mountain bikes under the XDS brand, though those are entry-level bikes with no full-suspension bikes on offer.

To be clear, the unnamed X-LAB mountain bike is not for sale, and X-LAB hasn’t said whether it will go into production. The brand hasn’t released a model name, specs, geometry, or pricing either. Given X-LAB’s aggressive pricing on its road and gravel bikes, a production version could shake up market for cross-country mountain bikes, but for now it remains a team-only machine.
