Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe Miami Heat are set to sign Klay Thompson to a two-year, $13 million contract when he clears waivers this weekend. Thompson agreed to a buyout with the Dallas Mavericks and is set to clear waivers on Sunday. The veteran wing will be Miami's 13th player on a standard contract when signed.
The Heat are going to use some of their remaining Non-Taxpayer MLE to sign Thompson. They should have enough left over under their first-apron hard cap to fill one more roster spot. That's key because teams are required to carry 14 players on standard contracts, except for short periods of the season.
The players Miami are considering are reportedly Nick Richards and former Heat players Gabe Vincent and Keshad Johnson. Richards has been working out with Heat players this offseason. Vincent is a free agent after finishing last season with the Atlanta Hawks. Johnson played for Miami for the last two seasons.
