When Jake Paul first entered the MMA business, he made it clear that he’s trying to compete with UFC, but he’s doing it the wrong way if you ask Matt Brown.

Paul has long been critical of the UFC business model. “The Problem Child” believes the promotion has exploited fighters, and he has vowed to shake up the MMA industry. Many have been skeptical of Paul’s approach, while others have credited him for trying to offer an alternative.

Now that he’s involved in the MMA business, “The Problem Child” has been direct with his intention to compete with the top promotion in the sport. Brown, a former UFC welterweight, had some strong criticism over that thought process during MMAFighting‘s “The Fighter vs. The Writer.”

“They’re trying to fight a dick-swinging contest with the UFC, right?” Brown said. “When you’re trying to outspend or try to get better fighters. You don’t have a chance. What I see MVP and PFL trying to do is a d*ck-swinging contest and it’s like you’ve got a f*cking limp d*ck over here.

“The Jake Paul’s and the MVP’s and the PFL’s of the world, it’s seemingly that they don’t understand all this stuff. It seems like they don’t. They try to get in this d*ck-swinging contest with Dana White. You’re barking up the wrong tree.”

Through Most Valuable Promotions, Paul has had a significant impact on women’s boxing. The company has put on marquee fights, including the classic trilogy between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. Paul and MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian first entered the MMA business back in May, promoting Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano.

MVP has moved quickly to make a splash with the PFL MMA merger. Paul was in attendance at UBS Arena for PFL New York at the end of July. His first test as an MMA promoter will be whether or not he can re-sign PFL Lightweight Champion Usman Nurmagomedov. The undefeated star has mostly run through the competition, and he had two exciting bouts against Paul Hughes that helped elevate his stock.
