Restricted free agent center Jalen Duren and the Detroit Pistons remain far apart in contract negotiations. Duren is reportedly looking for more than $40 million per season, while Detroit is offering a five-year deal at an average of $35 million per season. That's caused things to drag between the two side, with no sense that anything will change soon.

Duren is coming off an All-NBA season. The 22-year-old center qualified for a contract starting at up to 30% of the cap by earning the All-NBA honor. That deal would pay Duren $287 million over five years at an average of $57.4 million per season.

Despite qualifying for the bigger contract, Duren doesn't seem focused on pushing for even a 25% of the cap max, which would average more than $47.8 million per season. Instead, he's looking at a deal that would come in somewhere near $200 million in total and average around $40 million per season.
