Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayKawhi Leonard allegedly had an undisclosed sponsorship deal with Daktronics worth million of dollars, Pablo Torre reported on his podcast "Pablo Torre Finds Out" on Thursday.
The South Dakota-based company designed "The Halo Board," the largest double-sided halo display constructed inside of an area, inside the Intuit Dome.
The company has also made video boards for several NBA arenas, including the Suns, Hornets, and Bucks.
Leonard is already under investigation for his role in circumventing the league's salary cap through an outside sponsorship deal with the now-bankrupt company Aspiration.
Torre interviewed someone identified as a "high-level source" contracted with the Intuit Dome who said that the sponsorship was "was 1,000% a way to circumvent the salary cap. It was funneling money from the Clippers through Daktronics back to Kawhi."
An anonymous former Clippers official added that they knew Leonard had a sponsorship deal with Daktronics, according to Torre.
It is not clear when Daktronics and Leonard began their sponsorship deal, or what the agreement entailed.
A spokesperson for Daktronics said that Leonard does not have an active contract with the company. They also added that "I don't know what the company wants to say, or can say, given the Wachtell investigation and all that," alluding to the Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz law firm leading the investigation into the Aspiration deal.
The investigation is currently holding up a trade involving Leonard between the Clippers and Raptors. Both sides have said that they intend to complete the deal.
